Testimonials

“Chioma came to me as a highly recommended graduate student from a senior faculty member in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, and she met my high expectation. Chioma developed materials that were well-written, she was timely, responding quickly to some tight deadlines, and she collaborated well with our team members.  Chioma was a pleasure to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again.”

“Chioma wrote three study protocols, started data collection, set a high standard of excellence to be emulated by others, established a sound foundation to be built on, and modeled a work ethic admired by her supervisor (Dr. Truman, Associate Director for Science), co-workers, and other Fellows who have worked on the projects since.”

Benedict Truman, MD, MPH Associate Director for Science, NCHHSTP, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention

“Chioma was a part of the Children’s Healthy Weight Research group in a project that required a systematic review and assessment of the existing literature, and a formative research study with parents and child care staff. Chioma took on these assignments enthusiastically and with high quality performance. These efforts will result in important publications in the public health field. I look forward to following Chioma’s career as I know it will lead to great places and great success.”

About Chioma Elizabeth

Hello! My name is Chioma, and I got my PhD in health communication from the School of Media and Journalism at UNC Chapel Hill. Before getting my PhD, I received my MPH in behavioral sciences with a focus in health communication from the best school of public health in the world (Emory University). It was there that I first learned how complex health behaviors can be, and how health communication can be used as a tool to address some of these complexities. Since then I've learned that while health communication is a science, it is also an art. The most effective health messages rely on science to determine what to say, while using creativity to determine how best to say it.  With my unique academic and professional experiences, I'm able to combine the art and science of communication to create health messages that are both memorable and impactful.
